This Lake Michigan cottage was designed as a continuation of a long-standing family connection to the site, originally part of a small summer resort. The owners sought a casual, durable home that could host extended family and future generations. Working closely with the interior design team, the architecture reinforces a traditional cottage character through open planning, beamed ceilings, and simple detailing, while accommodating large gatherings and everyday use. Built-in storage is integrated throughout to support active family living. A subtle blue-and-white palette and selected historic references tie the new home to nearby family properties, allowing it to feel rooted in place rather than newly constructed.
