The Sip & Ski

Originally built as a fur-trading cabin in the early 1800s and later known as the “Sip & Ski Lodge,” this Harbor Springs residence was restored and reconfigured into a modern coastal shingle-style home overlooking Little Traverse Bay. Working within the constraints of a tight downtown site and the existing structure, the project focused on preserving the historic character of the home while opening the primary living spaces and maximizing water views. The renovation carefully balanced restoration with modernization, updating circulation, bedrooms, bathrooms, and functional storage within the original footprint. The front elevation facing the bay and the expanded kitchen for large gatherings became central architectural features of the redesign.
