A backyard train and a 57-year-old house with “good bones” were enough to help Jamie Goebel and Linda Martin overlook years of deferred maintenance when they bought their home in 2013. Today, it’s a mid-century modern star on Houzz.com, a website that focuses on home remodeling projects.
“It had a lot of deferred maintenance. It scared off a lot of other buyers,” says Linda Martin of the three-bedroom home, originally designed in the mid-1950s by John Randal McDonald, a prominent Wisconsin architect known for his “organic” modern design.
